Unique Fabrics

Photo's from the Trumpeting Spring Frieda Anderson work shop through the Quilters Guild of Dallas.  Held on Friday, September 5, 2008 in Richardson Texas.  Frieda bought the most beautiful art quilts for us to look at and the most luxurious hand-dyed fabrics for us to work with.  Frieda is a funny, easy going, and informative teacher. Her workshop was a lot of fun and we all learned some invaluable techniques.  If you ever have the opportunity to see Frieda speak or to take one of her workshops, it will be money well spent. Frieda has a website FrieStyle Designs and another partnership called the Chicago School of Fusing Pattern Works where she sells her art quilting patterns and book Fun, Fast Fusies.

During our trumpeting spring workshop we learned cutting techniques (very cool), fusing techniques to get crisp perfect edges and color combinations to really make our art quilts pop. After lunch Frieda had some kits and patterns that we could purchase.  They were all so wonderful it was hard to choose.  I bought the Sun Dance and Three Pumpkins quilt kits.

Please note that I asked Frieda if I could take photos of her quilts.  Do not copy any of the images on this page and use them without Frieda Anderson's written permission.  She holds the copyright.

All the gorgeous hand-dyed fabrics that Frieda Anderson brought to the workshop. In the upper right corner you can see the two art quilts that we could choose to make during the workshop (sorry they are a bit blurry).  One of the quilts was tulips and the other was daffodils.

My quilt in progress from the workshop.  It is all cut out but not fused down.  I wanted to free motion it in layers.

Name badge holder

Name badge holder I made with the left over scraps from the workshop.  I am about to go to Husqvarna Viking Fall 2008 Sew Fest in Kansas City- this will be a perfect little badge holder.
